Clarissa Keen
University of Massachusetts Boston
PhD Candidate
Boston, MA
I am a fourth-year, doctoral candidate under the guidance of Hannah Sevian in the Chemistry Department at UMass Boston. My research focuses on how students struggle in undergraduate chemistry laboratory and identifying how these struggles may be productive towards learning chemistry as well as 21st century skills. My career focuses on the intersection of professional development and chemistry education. My goal is to advance undergraduate education (with a specific focus in general chemistry courses) towards preparing students for the workforce through industry partnership and to increase equity for marginalized communities (BIPOC and LGBTQ) in these spaces.
I currently live in Watertown, MA with my spouse and our dog. Happy to talk about all things education research, as well as food, good books, and a love of animals.
